for Spring 2018
Creating a non-intimidating environment for participants to experience all parts of working with gold. This workshop will be held in my personal, professional studio in the Hudson Valley, May 2018. I am willing to stop work for one week so that four students can come make work and learn goldsmithing techniques. This includes alloying, pouring, rolling, annealing, metallurgy, fabricating, forging, fusing, drawing wire and tubing, and troubleshooting all of the problems that may arise along the way. (This workshop does not cover combining steel and gold). All tools, materials, and equipment are provided, and I will be cooking lunch and dinner daily so students can stay fully focused in this unique studio opportunity. My goal is that everyone has fun, gains knowledge from each other, has a memorable experience, and has their skill set evolve to a new level while working through things that are not found in any book. An intermediate skill level is required for this class - one should feel comfortable enough with metalworking to make the jump to working in gold.
